Remarks. Previously only two species of Platymaia - P. alcocki Rathbun and P. turbynei Stebbing - had been reported from the Indian Ocean. We describe here a new species of Platymaia from off the north-west of Australia and also record P. fimbriata Rathbun, previously known only from the west Pacific, from the same area. Distribution. Indo-West Pacific.
