- 1921 - Russian Civil War: The Kronstadt rebellion breaks out, driven by the Baltic Fleet sailors and armed citizens of Kronstadt.

- 1918 - Italian anarchist Amilcare Cipriani (pictured) died in Paris.
- 1926 - Murray Rothbard was born in the Bronx, New York.
- 1974 - Salvador Puig Antich was executed in Barcelona, Spain.

- 1903 - US Congress passes the first Anarchist Exclusion Act.
- 1938 - Jewish anarchist Sholom Schwartzbard died.

- 1918 - The Bureau of Investigation of the United States Department of Justice ordered copies of all correspondence to & from Emma Goldman sent to its office in Washington, D.C.
- 1937 - The Spanish newspaper La Noche carried an announcement introducing the aims, characteristics & membership conditions of the anarchist Friends of Durruti Group.
- 1939 - Har Dayal died in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

- 1882 - Birth of Dora Marsden, British individualist anarchist and militant suffragette.
- 1939 - Spanish Civil War: The National Defence Council seized control of the Spanish Republic in a coup d'état, appointing Manuel González Marín as Minister of Finance, Eduardo Val as Minister of Communications & Public Works.

- 1870 - Eugene Humbert b. French anarchist militant, pacifist, neo-Malthusian.
- 1879 - The trial of Giovanni Passannante for attempting to kill Umberto I of Italy began.
- 1961 - The premiere issue of Anarchy Magazine appeared.

- 1939 - Spanish Civil War: The National Committee of the Spanish Libertarian Movement is formed, with Juan López Sánchez as General Secretary.
- 1942 - Lucy Parsons died in a housefire.
- 2000 - British anarchist Nicolas Walter died.

- 1920 - Emma Goldman and Alexander Berkman (pictured) met with Vladimir Lenin where they express concern with the lack of freedom of press and suppression of dissent in the newly formed Soviet Union.
- 1921 - Gregori Maximoff was jailed in the Soviet Union.
- 1921 - Eduardo Dato Iradier the Spanish Prime Minister, was assassinated by three Catalan anarchists, Luis Nicolau, Pedro Mateu, and Ramon Castenellas.
- 1937 - Spanish Civil War: The Battle of Guadalajara begins with an Italian offensive.

- 1879 - Carlo Tresca (pictured) was born in Italy.
- 1883 - Louise Michel led a demonstration of unemployed, and received six years of solitary confinement, this was the first known instance of the display of the black flag.
- 1901 - Leo Tolstoy was excommunicated from the Russian Orthodox Church.
- 1939 - Cipriano Mera's IV Division defeated Communist forces that had besieged the National Council of Defense.

- 1910 - The United States Congress bars anarchists from settling in the country.
- 1923 - Salvador Seguí, Spanish anarcho-syndicalist, assassinated in Barcelona.

- 1850 - French anarchist Clément Duval was born.
- 1892 - After police attacked a labor rally, and the workers defended themselves, Ravachol today bombed the home of the presiding judge in the case.
- 1907 - The Prime Minister of Bulgaria, Dimitar Petkov, was killed by an anarchist.
- 1919 - Mollie Steimer was arrested in New York City and charged with inciting to riot.
- 1922 - Cornelius Castoriadis Libertarian Socialist was born.
- 1950 - In Cuba, the Third National Libertarian Congress began.

- 1937 - Spanish Civil War: The republicans launch a counteroffensive against the nationalist positions at Guadalajara.
- 1942 - Joan Montseny, Catalan anarchist and father of Federica Montseny, died in an internment camp in Salon-de-Provence, France.

- 1858 – French anarchist Maximilien Luce is born in Paris.
- 1881 – Alexander II of Russia is asssassinated in Saint Petersburg by members of People's Will.
- 1887 – Aleksandr Ulyanov attempts to assassinate Alexander III of Russia in Saint Petersburg.
- 1901 – Fernand Pelloutier dies.
- 1922 – 100 syndicalists arrested in Lisbon; charged with plotting uprising.
- 1937 – Spanish Civil War: The IV Army Corps is formed to coordinate the republican forces at the Battle of Guadalajara, the Mera Column is militarized and integrated as the 14th Division.
- 1950 – Hippolyte Havel dies in psychiatric hospital, New Jersey.

- 1851 - Mikhail Bakunin was transferred from a prison in Prague to the Olmütz fortress in Austria.
- 1916 - The Manifesto of the Sixteen is published by Peter Kropotkin and Jean Grave in La Bataille.
- 1921 - After five months in prison without charges, Errico Malatesta began a hunger strike to demand a trial.
- 1989 - Edward Abbey died.

- 1933 - Germany's Free Workers' Union of Germany published their last newspaper in Dresden.
- 1950 - Russian anarchist Gregori Maximoff died.
- 2001 - "Sacco & Vanzetti", a play by Anton Coppola about anarchists Sacco and Vanzetti (pictured) premiered.

- 1871 - France: The Paris Commune is established, refusing to submit to the authority of Adolphe Thiers' republican government.
- 1921 - Russian Civil War: The Red Army suppresses the Kronstadt rebellion, with the fall of the rebel-held Kronstadt.
- 2019 - Syrian Civil War: The Italian anarchist militant Lorenzo Orsetti is killed in action, during the Battle of Baghuz Fawqani.

- 2005 - South Africa: 800 people blockade Kennedy Road, resulting in 14 arrests and the later formation of Abahlali baseMjondolo.

- 1984 - Louise Crowley dies, Seattle, Wa. Avid kite-maker, anarchist activist, produced the Seattle Group Bulletin.

- 1918 - Mexican anarchist Ricardo Flores Magón was arrested under charges of violating the Espionage Act of 1917.
- 1937 - During the Spanish Civil War, the Iron Column voted to militarize itself.

- 1812 - Stephen Pearl Andrews, one of the founders of the New York intentional community Modern Times, was born.
- 1842 - Josiah Warren opened his 2nd Time Store in New Harmony, Indiana.
- 1905 - French illegalist anarchist Marius Jacob (pictured) received a life sentence for killing a police officer.
- 1931 - Russia: The Life and Labor Commune is forcibly resettled in Siberia.

- 1969 - Spanish anarchist Miguel Garcia was released from prison after serving 20 years.

- 1892 - Another French anarchist, Ravachol, was arrested for blowing up the homes of two government officials.
- 1939 - Spanish Civil War: The National Defence Council is dissolved and the final evacuation of republican territory begins.
- 2006 - Anarchist Cara Jennings was elected to the post of City Commissioner in Lake Worth, Florida.

- 1797 - The marriage of William Godwin and Mary Wollstonecraft was held.
- 1879 - Giovanni Passannante, attempted murderer of Umberto I of Italy, was sentenced to death but the penalty was commuted in life imprisonment.
- 1935 - French illegalist anarchist Clément Duval died.

- 1915 - Francisco Sabaté Llopart is born in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, Catalonia, Spain.
- 1939 - Spanish Civil War: The nationalist forces occupy Valencia and Alicante, dissolving the Socialized Economy Regulatory Council in Villena.

- 1907 - The First German Anarchist Congress, took place, in Offenbach.
- 1919 - Miguel Burgos, a member of Spain's Confederacion Nacional del Trabajo, became the first person killed under Spain's Ley de Fuga, which allows someone fleeing from police to be shot.
- 2017 - Syrian Civil War: The International Revolutionary People's Guerrilla Forces is established in Rojava.
