55°10′34″N 10°29′21″E / 55.1762°N 10.4892°E Egeskov Castle is a Danish castle located on the island of Funen. The castle is constructed on oaken piles and located in a small lake of maximum depth five meters. Originally, the only access was by means of a drawbridge. According to legend, it took an entire forest of oak trees to build the foundation, hence the name Egeskov (literally: Oak forest).
