- November 1 – Christijan Albers is confirmed as a driver for the new Midland F1 team from 2006. Meanwhile Franz Tost has been installed as the team principal of Red Bull's Squadra Toro Rosso team.
- November 3 – Williams announce that Nico Rosberg (son of 1982 World Champion Keke Rosberg) will partner Mark Webber for the 2006 season. [3]

- June 25 – Fernando Alonso wins the 2006 Canadian Grand Prix for the first time. Michael Schumacher's Ferrari came second and Kimi Räikkönen finished third.

edit- July 2 – McLaren announce that Juan Pablo Montoya will be replaced by test driver Pedro de la Rosa starting with the French Grand Prix.
- July 2 – Michael Schumacher in a Ferrari won the 2006 United States Grand Prix at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, ahead of team-mate Felipe Massa.
- July 12 – Super Aguri confirm that Franck Montagny will be replaced by Sakon Yamamoto from the 2006 German Grand Prix onwards.
- July 16 – Michael Schumacher wins the 2006 French Grand Prix his eighth victory in France ahead of Fernando Alonso in 2nd and Felipe Massa in 3rd.
- July 25 – Formula One bosses have banned, on safety grounds, the two vertical white fins used by BMW Sauber at the French Grand Prix. The fins were nicknamed "Twin Towers" after BMW sponsor Petronas' buildings in Kuala Lumpur. [43]
- July 30 – Michael Schumacher wins the 2006 German Grand Prix. Felipe Massa was second and Kimi Räikkönen third. Fernando Alonso finished fifth. [44]
- July 27 – WilliamsF1 and Toyota confirmed that an agreement has been reached yesterday evening between the two parties for a three year Formula One engine supply partnership. The agreement will see WilliamsF1 powered by Toyota engines commencing with the 2007 season. [45]
- July 31 – Renault are granted permission to use their "mass damper system" in the Hungarian Grand Prix. The FIA will continue to pursue a ban, but advised that it will not punish teams retrospectively for using the system. [46]

edit- August 1 – BMW Sauber announce that Robert Kubica shall replace Jacques Villeneuve at the Hungarian GP [47].
- August 2 – Williams announce that Austrian driver Alexander Wurz will partner Nico Rosberg as Williams race driver in 2007. Current driver Mark Webber failed to reach an agreement during contract extension negotiations. At the time, Webber was strongly rumored to join Renault for 2007, however days later Webber signed for Red Bull Racing.
- August 4 – Former Toyota F1 driver Cristiano da Matta has been critically injured following a collision with a deer whilst testing his Champ Car [48]. da Matta is reported to have suffered a Subdural hematoma and is in a medically induced coma.
- August 6 – Jenson Button wins the wet Hungarian Grand Prix in a Honda to win his first GP. Title contenders Fernando Alonso and Michael Schumacher both failed to finish, although the German managed to score a single point.
- August 7 – Red Bull Racing announce that Mark Webber and David Coulthard will serve as Red Bull drivers in 2007. Webber comes to Red Bull from Williams, while Coulthard has been driving for Red Bull since 2005. The signing of Webber signals the end of Christian Klien's time with the team which extends back to their previous incarnation as Jaguar Racing. Ironically, Klien's team mate in Jaguar's final year was Mark Webber. [49]
- August 22 – Honda F1 have parted company with technical director Geoff Willis by mutual consent, according to a statement released by the team. The move comes after Shuhei Nakamoto was promoted above Willis to the new role of senior technical director following a poor start to the season. [50]
- August 23 – Sebastian Vettel is confirmed as BMW Sauber's third driver. [51]
- August 23 – Mass dampers are banned by the FIA International Court of Appeal, overturning the ruling of FIA stewards at the 2006 German Grand Prix. [52]
- August 27 – Felipe Massa wins his first F1 race at the 2006 Turkish Grand Prix. Fernando Alonso increases his points advantage over Michael Schumacher to 12, having finished in second place with the German third. [53]
- August 29 – The FIA announces the 2007 F1 calendar with the dropping of the San Marino Grand Prix and the European Grand Prix. [54]
- August 31 – The National Sporting Authority of Turkey (TOSFED) and the MSO, the organiser of the Turkish Grand Prix, have been called to appear before a specially convened meeting of the FIA World Motor Sport Council in Paris on September 19 to explain why the President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus was allowed to present the winner's trophy at last week's Grand Prix. - August 31 – Former Toyota F1 racer, Cristiano da Matta, is no longer in a coma and is beginning to walk and talk, Champ Car doctor Chris Pinderski says.[56]

edit- September 3 – Adrian Newey, Technical Director of the Red Bull Racing team, is briefly hospitalised after a heavy crash in a Jaguar E-Type whilst competing in a historic event at the Goodwood Revival. [57]
- September 6 – Renault announces that Flavio Briatore is staying in the role of Team Principal, and that Heikki Kovalainen will replace the departing Fernando Alonso in 2007. Ricardo Zonta and Nelson Piquet Jr. are confirmed as test drivers.[58]
- September 6 – Silverstone has announced that it will give fans $95 back if they buy an adult grandstand seat before the end of September 2006 and Jenson Button wins the race in July next year. [59]
- September 9 – The MF1 team is sold to a Dutch consortium led by Spyker Cars.[60]
- September 10 – Michael Schumacher wins the 2006 Italian Grand Prix, reducing the gap from himself to championship leader Fernando Alonso to just two points. - June 8 – Robert Kubica takes his and BMW Sauber's first win in Formula One at the 2008 Canadian Grand Prix, with team-mate Nick Heidfeld second and Red Bull Racing's David Coulthard third. Kubica also takes the lead of the Drivers' Championship, as rivals Lewis Hamilton and Kimi Räikkönen were eliminated in a pitlane accident. [155]
- June 11 – Former Toyota F1 team principal Ove Andersson is killed in an accident at a classic rally event in South Africa at the age of seventy. [156]
- June 22 – Felipe Massa wins the 2008 French Grand Prix from Kimi Räikkönen, who was forced to give best to his Ferrari team-mate due to a mid-race exhaust failure. Jarno Trulli took an emotional third place for Toyota, which was dedicated to the late Ove Andersson. McLaren and BMW Sauber had poor weekends, strengthening Ferrari's position in both championships. edit- August 3 – Heikki Kovalainen claims his maiden win at the 2008 Hungarian Grand Prix from Timo Glock and Kimi Räikkönen after Felipe Massa's engine blew up three laps before the end of the race, and Lewis Hamilton sustained a puncture, but recovered well to finish fifth. He extends his lead of the drivers championship, now on 62 points, whilst Räikkönen trails by 5 points, and Massa by a further 3. [163]

edit- September 7 – Lewis Hamilton achieves a surprise victory at the 2008 Belgian Grand Prix after rain in the last three laps causes Kimi Räikkönen to hit the concrete wall. Felipe Massa finished second and Nick Heidfeld third. Hamilton then receives a 25-second penalty for cutting a chicane and drops to third.
- September 12 – Ferrari announces that its contract with reigning champion Kimi Räikkönen has been extended to the end of 2010, the same length as team-mate Felipe Massa's existing contract. [164]
- September 14 – Sebastian Vettel wins the 2008 Italian Grand Prix after starting from pole position and becomes the youngest driver in Formula One history to win a Grand Prix. Heikki Kovalainen finished second and Robert Kubica third.
- September 28 – Fernando Alonso wins the inaugural Singapore Grand Prix, the first F1 race to be held at night. In an event mixed up by a crucial mid-race safety car period, Nico Rosberg finished second with Lewis Hamilton third. Both Ferrari drivers failed to score. [165]
