- The great old-world charm. A featured article by Solipsist of how London did (or ought to:??) look. Btw, is that how the taxman today collects revenues? Support as nom. Simply south 21:12, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
- selected for April 2009 - see Portal:London/Showcase picture/04 2009
- Support as nom. Of all my London pictures, this one's my personal favourite. – iridescent 17:59, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
- Support - seriously unique - the kind of photo Featured Picture sections are all about. Definitely needs a good explanation with it though!!! DJR (T) 18:15, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
- I don't know – surely if ever there was a "picture worth a thousand words" moment this is it. Imagine trying to explain Amphibious bus without a picture! – iridescent 23:50, 24 March 2009 (UTC)
- Eh, I'm quite prepared to go with it - even support it; but pls, pls, help me with the caption - what bridge, for instance? Kbthompson (talk) 00:08, 25 March 2009 (UTC)
- East side of Vauxhall Bridge, on the south side; immediately next to the MI6 building. (Useless fact; because the Thames foreshore is still common land by royal decree which has never been repealed, you can walk, take photos etc smack in the middle of the Government Security Zone areas around MI6, Parliament, Battersea Heliport etc, and provided you're below the high-tide mark the police are powerless to do anything except give you dirty looks.) – iridescent 00:17, 25 March 2009 (UTC)
File:Bobby Moore Statue.jpg selected for May - see Portal:London/Showcase picture/05 2009
- Support as nom- It's new, and it's cool. Top importance in London WikiProject. Basketball110 00:29, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
- Oppose this particular picture, although I certainly agree a Wembley photo would be a good idea. This one is quite washed-out and the sky is very grey; there are better Wembley pictures on Commons (My pick would be this one) — iridescent 01:37, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
- Comment I agree. The photographs in Wembley Stadium all seem to date from January, and are washed out - not the photographer's fault, it was a bad day. There are a couple of 'colourful' interior shots, but they too have their faults. The best on commons seems to be File:Bobby Moore Statue.jpg - a local hero when I was growing up; so, I might be accused of bias. I'll leave this up for the moment, as there is the intention to add something on the subject. Kbthompson (talk) 17:51, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
- Comment - I agree with Iridescent - that particular photo isn't the best. I'm a big fan of the Bobby Moore one though - that should certainly have its time at some point in the future. A while back (by "while", I mean approximately
twothree years ago) I mooted the idea of having images related to events going on the month. Following that theme, Bobby Moore and Wembley for May? DJR (T) 18:17, 20 March 2009 (UTC) - Comment - an incontestable argument! Kbthompson (talk) 18:27, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
- Selected for June
- Support as nom. Seems a better composed image than the other Canary Wharf image on this page, and it makes the juxtaposition of old and new in that area much more explicit. Also, when was the last time we had a showcase pic of one of London's parks? Ham 12:57, 27 May 2007 (UTC)
- NB: The 'other image' referred to above is now delisted. I was not referring to the Canary Wharf pic now on the list, which I actually support. Ham 10:17, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
- Support as nom. I see this landmark near enough every day on the bus. Also, the view from the park is nice. - Norgy (talk) 21:02, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
- Belated support – iridescent 23:47, 24 March 2009 (UTC)
- Selected for July
- Support as nom. A vivid version of a classic shot. — Aldaron • T/C 20:09, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
- A very good picture - but see The Queen's Life Guard; something similar was the showcase picture for November 2005. Kbthompson (talk) 17:57, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
- It doesn't rule it out. What do others think? Kbthompson (talk) 18:31, 20 March 2009 (UTC)

Selected for August
A herd of wicker elephants on the banks of the Serpentine. Not a sentence used all that often, and would IMO be a good break from the iconic images and architecture. – iridescent 17:49, 24 March 2009 (UTC)
- Support - this is cool. Why were they there? DJR (T) 17:55, 24 March 2009 (UTC)
- This might help you write up a caption ... 8^) Kbthompson (talk) 18:05, 24 March 2009 (UTC)
Selected for September
I used to live round here so am possibly biased – I do appreciate that most people have never heard of it – but a nice image of one of Docklands's less known landmarks. – iridescent 17:49, 24 March 2009 (UTC)
Selected for October
While File:StPaulBlitz.jpg is arguably the iconic image of London, it's also a copyvio and up for deletion. This one serves the same purpose and is US Government sourced so is PD (albeit only captioned as "London" - can anyone identify the street?). – iridescent 18:28, 24 March 2009 (UTC)
- Support there are a number of historical London images that are worthy of consideration. Kbthompson (talk) 12:49, 28 March 2009 (UTC)
