- May 23: European Union regulators have given Universal Music Group clearance to buy BMG Music Publishing for $2.09 billion. The European Commission was concerned about antitrust problems with the original deal, and that Universal would have had a monopoly over some countries' music charts. Universal therefore sold some of its song catalogues. If the deal now goes ahead, it will create the world's largest music publishing company.[2][3]

- May 12: Serbia has won the Eurovision Song Contest 2007. Marija Šerifović won the competition with the song "Molitva".
