Apollo 8 was the second human spaceflight mission of the Apollo program, in which Commander Frank Borman, Command Module Pilot Jim Lovell and Lunar Module Pilot William Anders became the first humans to enter lunar orbit. It was also the first flight of a Saturn V rocket with astronauts onboard. On December 24, 1968, in what was the most watched television broadcast at the time, the crew read in turn from the Book of Genesis as they orbited the Moon. (more...)
