• 1999 - Cyclone John strengthened to a Category 5 cyclone before making landfall on the Pilbaran coast between Karratha and Port Hedland, bringing strong winds and heavy rain.
• 2015 - Typhoon Melor (pictured) makes landfall over the Visayas archipelago in the Philippines as a Category 4 typhoon. Melor killed 51 people and caused ₱7.04 billion (US$148.3 million) in damages.
