Multiple simultaneous spaceflights

edit

@Dmhll: Why did you remove from the item about an unprecedented 19 people in outer space on September 11 the detail describing the four spacecraft/missions involved? The information is germane, straightforward, concise, and provides insight about how and why such an extraordinary crowd is aloft, and shows the internationality of the event, with missions originating from different corners of the earth.

My careful reflection on your edit reveals to me no justification for your removal since it was not bad information, junk, trivia, or an eccentric inclusion in any way. I want to restore that mission information but first I want to hear your justification of your choice because your edit summary provides none. Perhaps on reflection you might change your mind. I removed and reverted it almost immediately.. if you chose to only see the removal and not the part where I reverted my edit, then I'm not sure what to tell you? I realized I was wrong and I put it back already, the edits were 2 minutes apart. Dmhll (talk) 04:48, 14 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Dmhll: The question I asked was why you removed mission information, i.e. this text: "the three astronauts on the MS-26 mission, three more on China's Tiangong space station, four people on the SpaceX Polaris Dawn mission, and nine more on board the International Space Station."
Your statement that you "reverted it almost immediately" is not accurate because it was not a reversion. A reversion restores the status quo ante precisely, which your edit did not do.
I repeat my original question: "Why did you remove ... the detail describing the four spacecraft/missions involved? Thank you. Spideog (talk) 05:24, 14 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
Postscript: I belatedly notice, in your reply, your remark that "I realized I was wrong". I deduce from that statement that you do not object to my restoring the brief description of the four missions that was removed? Spideog (talk) 05:38, 14 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
Postscript 2: I want to remove the statement you added, i.e. "The previous record was set in 2023 with 17 people. (USA Today)"
My justification for that is that it is not the meat of the story; it bloats with superfluous information what was previously a concise narrative, one which was to the point. Why drag up the past? The inclusion of the past in this type of news-list article about current events on September 11 reads like a distraction.
If you can justify including the previous population-in-space record I won't fight you on it, but my judgement is that it ought to be removed because it is off the point. Concision is the essence of a list like this; it is not a fully-fledged article in the usual encyclopaedic sense; it is more like a list of headlines with one, brief (concise) leading paragraph for each news story. On reflection, do you agree? Spideog (talk) 05:55, 14 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
