The Mammal Portal

edit

Let me first say that this is a really well designed Portal. I don't know who did the work but you can see their train-of-thought or consistency throughout the design. A job well done*, and secondly - I surprised I'm the first one to wright on the Portals discussion page!

  • With regard to a job well done, if you look at the design of the Portal you'll notice it's neat with lots of neat and structured text. The one thing I've learn't about Portal design is "use the facilities" namely, don't skimp on the pictures and graphic components which makes the concept of the Portal so dynamic. So on that note: I'd like to see more of those elements made use of. Otherwise it can lead to a well structured - yet boring design that doesn't engage the user. Could this be the reason why I'm the first to engage on it's talk page?

Never the less, it's a great example of a very well structured Portal. ©Wiki User 68 TalkWork    Portal 01:28, 23 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Cetartiodactyla as an Order

edit

I have a question/issue with a few pages that call Cetartiodactyla an order. I'm told Wikipedia uses one reference (I forget it's title now) so if it calls this clade an ORder, that's fine. BUT the internal link itself says, "This group has been proposed as a new order, but there is not sufficient evidence of the exact relationship between the two current orders to efficiently merge them." This suggests Wikipedia does NOT consider this merge suggestion valid. Any suggestions to resolve this, edit the link to Cetartiodactyla?--Paddling bear (talk) 21:18, 24 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Notice from the Portals WikiProject

edit

WikiProject Portals is back!

The project was rebooted and completely overhauled on April 17th, 2018. Its goals are to revitalize the entire portal system, make building and maintaining portals easier, support the ongoing improvement of portals and the editors dedicated to this, and design the portals of the future.

As of May 2nd, 2018, membership is at 60 editors, and growing. You are welcome to join us.

There are design initiatives for revitalizing the portals system as a whole, and for improving each component of portals. So far, 2 new dynamic components have been developed: Template:Transclude lead excerpt and Template:Transclude random excerpt.

Tools are provided for building and maintaining portals, including automated portals that update themselves in various ways.

And, if you are bored and would like something to occupy your mind, we have a wonderful task list.

From your friendly neighborhood Portals WikiProject. Hope to see you there. Sincerely,    — The Transhumanist   07:36, 2 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Wee bit of help required

edit

Any experts on fossil viverrids out there? I'm trying to compose a page for Semigenetta, but there's very little information I can find, at least in English. I've got one paper and Fossilworks (which sort of contradict each other BTW), but that's only really enough for a taxobox (currently stored in my sandbox) and maybe a paragraph or two. Any help would be appreciated. Sumanuil (talk) 21:56, 19 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
