  • Just a passing-by comment, I don't think that portals are meant to cite references and have a reference section, visitors are meant to visit the article that contains the fact, and see that it is referenced in that article, if that makes any sense at all. ~ Sebi [talk] 00:30, 2 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
    • Might want to talk to NE2 about that. —O () 01:13, 02 October 2007 (GMT)

On Portal:U.S. Roads, there is no article about the new S.C. shield design. --NE2 19:13, 2 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Rotating content

edit

Since October 2007 there have only been two articles nominated for two months October 2007 and January 2009, yet there are more FA and GA world road articles and more FA and quality images than 2, so the concept has been changed to rotate content through so the portal actually has images and articles. Also added a panorama box section, as there were also road panoramas under quality images. All sections are still nominate if desired. Please be bold and add FA, A and GA road related articles directly to the portal in the next area on the selected article page.SriMesh | talk 04:16, 20 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Did you know

edit

This [1] does a delightful search of highway   Done and road (almost done) articles, of which the first few pages up to 239 were added and not the rest as of yet. A similar one could be done of road articles as well. There is one archive page at Did you know which holds all the Did you knows collected to date. There are three separate pages which rotate DYK list, DYK listing and Another DYK listing which share the archival page holdings so there are two DYKs rotating on the portal at all times. US content

edit

I'm curious why there is not any more US-related content on this portal? There are 31 US highway Featured Articles, 20 A-Class articles and 445 Good Articles. There are 2 current Featured Pictures. Currently there is 1 DYK hook from Guam and one photo from New Mexico (which doesn't even show a highway). I'm not suggesting that all of the US content be added, but surely some should and can be added. The state of New York has a separate roads portal, and yet the US portal still covers all 50 states, 5 territories and the District of Columbia as best as possible. Why is this portal almost completely ignoring one country? Imzadi 1979  05:47, 29 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

To follow up, will someone be systematically removing all of the Canadian content now that Portal:Canada Roads exists? After all, if the US was removed, presumably because there's a US Roads portal, then why is Canada still on here? Imzadi 1979  19:30, 17 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
I don't really see the problem myself, there is very little that is specific to any one country as it stands now. --Keithonearth (talk) 01:40, 20 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Notice from the Portals WikiProject

edit

WikiProject Portals is back!

The project was rebooted and completely overhauled on April 17th, 2018. Its goals are to revitalize the entire portal system, make building and maintaining portals easier, support the ongoing improvement of portals and the editors dedicated to this, and design the portals of the future.

As of May 2nd, 2018, membership is at 60 editors, and growing. You are welcome to join us.

There are design initiatives for revitalizing the portals system as a whole, and for improving each component of portals. So far, 2 new dynamic components have been developed: Template:Transclude lead excerpt and Template:Transclude random excerpt.

Tools are provided for building and maintaining portals, including automated portals that update themselves in various ways.

And, if you are bored and would like something to occupy your mind, we have a wonderful task list.

From your friendly neighborhood Portals WikiProject. Hope to see you there. Sincerely,    — The Transhumanist   07:43, 2 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
