December 2005

edit

I nominate Cyclone Catarina. It explains a rare cyclone well, with good pictures and links. Hurricanehink 03:09, 14 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

Added Catarina for week 52. It would be good to improve the introduction however. Jdorje 23:52, 17 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

How about Hurricane Alice for week 52. A New Years suprise in 1954 would be fitting for a New Year's article.Fableheroesguild 02:22, 15 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

Clever, except that that article needs some work...aside from the storm history it really doesn't have that much content. Jdorje 06:03, 15 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

I was just thinking about that right after I posted my last post.Fableheroesguild 05:02, 16 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

I would like to nominate the 1997 Pacific hurricane season. It currently is a canidate for Featured Article, and I think it was an interesting season. Either that or Hurricane Charley, which I think was a well-written article with good use of pictures. Either way, we need another one soon, as Catarina is the current and last one. Hurricanehink 02:10, 27 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

I would also like to nominate the Galveston Hurricane of 1900 and Cyclone Tracy, as they were both featured articles already. Hurricanehink 18:29, 27 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

January 2006

edit
I've added the Galveston hurricane to the list. - Cuivienen 19:52, 4 January 2006 (UTC)Reply
The feature article part of the portal is not working. It is not showing the summary of the article. I tried fixing it, but that only made it worse. Fableheroesguild 04:05, 14 January 2006 (UTC)Reply
Not sure what you mean...Portal:Tropical_cyclones looks fine to me. Jdorje 04:31, 14 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Someone must have fixed it because when I was on the article, it was supposed to show the summary of the Hurricane Charley article, but instead it showed Portal:Tropical cyclones/Featured article/2006-2. It's fixed now though. Fableheroesguild 03:47, 16 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Ok, we need some more really good articles...and fast. If we don't get a new good article each week we'll have to start repeating. Jdorje 22:12, 30 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hmm. How about Wilma and Rita, which have a bit of things to improve, but are in very good shape overall? Titoxd(?!? - help us) 22:23, 30 January 2006 (UTC)Reply
Wilma and Rita sound like good ideas. I propose Danny, Camille, Isidore, and the Labor Day Hurricane of 1935. Hurricanehink 01:01, 31 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

February 2006

edit
The Camille article is terrible (practically nothing on impact). Danny and Isidore are good...solid B-class articles. I expect Hurricane Georges will soon make a good candidate too. However we should try to get a non-Atlantic article for week 8 since we will have had 6 straight articles of Atlantic hurricanes. — jdorje (talk) 04:50, 8 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
Good point about Camille. I just figured it would be good, based on its effects, but I was wrong. I'm trying to get Georges done, but time is a key factor. Damn colleges! Interfering with my time on Wikipedia! What non-Atlantic one should be next? There aren't too many EPAC ones that were damaging enough. Maybe Liza or Pauline? Nothing in the CPAC is ready yet. I don't know. Maybe we should get our group together and decide on a non-Atlantic one to improve. Hurricanehink 12:44, 8 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
Cyclone Tracy is the obvious choice, since it's FA and hasn't been selected yet. — jdorje (talk) 18:12, 8 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
Whoops, I thought it was already picked. That should be next. Hurricanehink 00:45, 9 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

I'll nominate Hurricane Georges, based on the amount of information added between Jdorje and I. Hurricanehink 03:20, 11 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Quickly, we need the next one. Gordon will be done in a couple of days. I think Tracy should be next, followed by Georges and Iniki. Hurricanehink 12:42, 14 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
I added Tracy, Georges, and Iniki in that order. I made the appropriate page with the name in the date and then moved it to the name the other ones have. (Featured/Week moved to Featured/Article name) I hope that I didn't make a mistake in moving before they appeared. If I did I am sorry. Miss Madeline | Talk to Madeline 19:37, 14 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
David is now done, so I'll nominate that. Hurricanehink 01:54, 20 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

March 2006

edit

Sorry we didn't discuss it, but I put Gloria as the next one, followed by David. Hurricanehink 02:27, 6 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

While I'm thinking of it, what about the List of Pacific Category 5 hurricanes or the 1998 Atlantic hurricane season? Hurricanehink 12:43, 6 March 2006 (UTC)Reply
How about Hurricane Cesar-Douglas? I really want to feature Klaus here so we can show it wasn't the hokey retirement move everyone seems to think it is. Miss Madeline | Talk to Madeline 00:28, 17 March 2006 (UTC)Reply
I love the Klaus idea, and I biasedly supportive of it. Cesar-Douglas might be harder, simply because there are no pictures. OK, next Klaus, then List of Pacific Category 5 hurricanes. That's my vote. Hurricanehink 05:08, 17 March 2006 (UTC)Reply
OK, I added Klaus and Pacific Cat. 5's. After that, I would like to nominate Hurricane Claudette (2003), mainly because I recently finished updating that article. Either that or the List of Category 5 Atlantic hurricanes. It would be cool to have Pacific Cat. 5's next to the Atlantic Cat. 5's, IMO. Tis it for now. Hurricanehink 19:29, 18 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Atlantic Cat. 5's and Claudette were added. Hurricanehink 03:09, 31 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

April 2006

edit
We need more soon. How about Nora and 2005 Atlantic hurricane season? Miss Madeline | Talk to Madeline 20:16, 19 April 2006 (UTC)Reply
Sounds good. After those, I nominate Hurricane Mitch. Hurricanehink 22:48, 19 April 2006 (UTC)Reply
I like Nora, but I guess I'm a little biased in favor of it... :) I'd wait for 2005 AHS until the week the 2006 AHS starts, but that's just me. Also, other articles that might be a good idea are List of New Jersey hurricanes and List of Category 5 Pacific hurricanes (already done) Hurricane Katrina. Titoxd(?!? - help us) 23:27, 19 April 2006 (UTC)Reply
LOL, no problem with bias. Great idea Tito. Given that 2006 is so close, that should be for the week of May 28th. OK, so Nora's next, then NJ canes (with approval from my own bias :)), then Mitch, then Katrina, or something like that. What about the list of 2005 storms? That's different from the season, and is now an FA. Hurricanehink 23:57, 19 April 2006 (UTC)Reply
Ooh, what if in lead up to the 2006 season, we had all 3 2005 ones as the featured article; May 14 could be 2005 storms, May 21 could be Katrina, and May 28 could be 2005 season. Until then, we can have Mitch, Nora, and NJ canes. This would keep the thing busy until early June. Hurricanehink 13:52, 20 April 2006 (UTC)Reply
Nora's next. Miss Madeline | Talk to Madeline 20:42, 23 April 2006 (UTC)Reply
Mitch then NJ canes OK? Hurricanehink 20:40, 24 April 2006 (UTC)Reply
Added Mitch and NJ. So is the leading up idea alright, with List of 2005 storms, Katrina, then the season page for the start of the 2006 season? Hurricanehink 03:14, 30 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

May 2006

edit

When I finish the 1957 Pacific typhoon season, can it be the featured article? I think that there could be a very large amount of information for this, even though it is quite old in TC standards. I've even suprised myself with what can be done with it. Icelandic Hurricane #12 20:55, 9 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

What would be the picture for the season? You've done a good job with the article, though I'm not sure if there's enough info out there for featured status. That said, we another one, and relatively soon. I nominate the List of storms in the 2005 Atlantic hurricane season for May 14, Hurricane Katrina for May 21, and the 2005 Atlantic hurricane season for the 28th into the start of the new hurricane season. June 4 could be Tropical cyclone, but then I don't know what. Hurricanehink 21:41, 9 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
I'm a photo of something to do with th 1957 season exists. But, could some search with me? I'm working on a lot of stuff right now, and that would just make it harder. Icelandic Hurricane #12 21:53, 9 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

By the way, would the 1957 article be a B-class by now? Icelandic Hurricane #12 21:54, 9 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Maybe Hurricane Pauline for May 14? I know it needs a bit more work, but it is B-Class, but the Pacific season starts May 15. Other than those, I concur with Hurricanehink and also nominate Effect of Hurricane Katrina on New Orleans. Miss Madeline | Talk to Madeline 22:12, 9 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
Ooh, not sure. I'm biased because I worked on that, but I would vote no for now. It needs some work, and it needs some pictures. It's a little bland. Should we save Katrina effects for the week of August 28? Anniversary featured articles would be cool, if possible. Hurricanehink (talk) 22:29, 9 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
Alright, I'll do the 2005 ones, but what should be the picture for the List of 2005 storms and the 2005 season? Both can't be the track map. Is there a satellite pic of more than one storm? Maria, Nate, and Ophelia were all active simultaneously, so that could work as the pic. Hurricanehink (talk) 15:26, 10 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
How about this composite image from CIMSS?--Nilfanion (talk) 15:34, 10 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
That's perfect. Image:2005montage.jpg is its location. Hurricanehink (talk) 16:25, 10 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
Added those three. Hurricanehink (talk) 01:01, 11 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Though we have a while, we should think ahead. How about Tropical cyclone or Hurricane Irene (2005) after the three I just added? Hurricanehink (talk) 01:01, 11 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Also, Cyclone Percy is really good as well. The next three, after these, should be Percy, Tropical cyclone, then Irene. Any objections? Hurricanehink (talk) 16:12, 15 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
None at all. Icelandic Hurricane #12 17:39, 15 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
OK, we'll be good until June 24. Hurricanehink (talk) 18:18, 15 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

I'll nominate Hurricane John (1994), seeing as how good it is. Hurricanehink (talk) 00:33, 31 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

June 2006

edit
I also nominate Tropical Storm Allison after the large amount of work I put into it. We need another one relatively soon. Do these two sound good? Hurricanehink (talk) 00:48, 14 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
Sure. Also, after a few issues are sorted out with Typhoon Chanchu (2006), I would like to nominate it. I think it is probably the best WPAC article. But that would be after John and Allison, as those are better written. íslenska hurikein #12(samtal) 11:41, 14 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
Chanchu isn't bad, but it needs more. It caused $800 million in damage in China, so I'm sure there's more info out there. Hurricanehink (talk) 12:22, 14 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Given that nothing else is ready as FA class or A class, what about some GA's? Basically, I propose all GA articles. Hurricanehink (talk) 03:02, 19 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

I nominate Camille! íslenska hurikein #12(samtal) 13:12, 19 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
I'd like to suggest Project Stormfury, which is currently a GA nominee (as was suggested). It would be nice to have a non-system/season article featured for a change. Miss Madeline | Talk to Madeline 16:09, 19 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
Those two sound good. Hurricanehink (talk) 18:28, 19 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
And after that, we can do Odette, Bonnie, Isabel (1985), Henri, and Matthew. íslenska hurikein #12(samtal) 13:18, 21 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
And then Leslie, Delta, Lee, Esther (1961), and then maybe a WPAC storm will hopefully be a GA class by then so we can do it. íslenska hurikein #12(samtal)
We don't need all of them yet. We should save some for later. How about Bonnie, Delta, Lee, and Esther for now? Hurricanehink (talk) 18:04, 24 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
Sure, but maybe it should go in this order; Delta, Bonnie, Esther, Lee, or it could go Esther, Bonnie, Lee, Delta. Oh I don't know, just do what you think is best. íslenska hurikein #12(samtal) 18:50, 24 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
I don't see how the order matters... Hurricanehink (talk) 02:15, 25 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

July 2006

edit

OK, forget the GA's. How about Esther, then Irene, then Henri? --Hurricanehink (talk) 18:31, 9 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Sure. íslenska hurikein #12 (samtal) 18:42, 9 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
OK, we're good for 5 more weeks. --Hurricanehink (talk) 23:27, 9 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
Well, now we're only good for a fortnight. How about Lenny; it's a GA. íslenska hurikein #12 (samtal) 14:44, 31 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
OK. What about the List of South America tropical cyclones? It's an FLC. Hurricanehink (talk) 17:57, 31 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
Sure. íslenska hurikein #12 (samtal) 19:52, 31 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

August 2006

edit

List of Delaware hurricanes would be good for the next one. Miss Madeline | Talk to Madeline 23:28, 17 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Its a good choice. However I don't favour it as the next one on the basis of the current one being another list. How about Eye (cyclone)?--Nilfanion (talk) 23:30, 17 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
Ok. íslenska hurikein #12 (samtal) 23:32, 17 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Eye has been put onto the portal. Nominations for next week? – Chacor 03:13, 21 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Bonnie (2004)? Hurricanehink (talk) 12:51, 21 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
Sure. íslenska hurikein #12 (samtal) 14:36, 21 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
And the week after that? Titoxd(?!?) 16:22, 21 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
I think either Bonnie 04 or Danny 97. íslenska hurikein #12 (samtal) 00:55, 22 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
I think use the A class over the GA, so Bonnie for the week after next and Danny for the following? – Chacor 02:01, 22 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
Ok. íslenska hurikein #12 (samtal) 13:29, 22 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
