Pujut National Secondary School (Malay: Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Pujut) is a public secondary school in Miri, a city in Sarawak, Malaysia. It was opened on 5 January 2004 and provides five years of secondary education which culminates in Pentaksiran Tingkatan 3 (Form 3 Assessment) examination in Form 3 (until 2022) and Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (Malaysian Certificate of Education) in Form 5.[citation needed] The school is a national secondary school (Malay: sekolah menengah kebangsaan), a type of government secondary school in which Malay is the main medium of instruction.[citation needed]

History
editThe school was established on 5 January 2004. It is located at Senadin area, approximately 11 kilometers (6.8 mi) from Miri city. It covers 11.116 hectares or 27.47 acres. SMK Pujut's original plan is set to be located at Pujut's vicinity, but was relocated to the current site, while its name remains unchanged.
On its early years, it has 1005 people there. It consists 39 teachers, 9 supporting staffs and 957 students. The total amount of classes is 23 rooms, consisting 2 remove classes, 7 classes of Form 1, 5 classes of Form 3 and two classes of non-Science classes.
At least 73 classes were founded to held overgrown amount of student enrollment with another remove class, 14 classes of Forms 2 and 3 and 15 classes for Forms 4 and 5 with the total capacity of 2429 students. The first non residential school in Miri, it has been trusted by the government to established Kelas Rancangan Khas or Special Plan Class (KRK) on 2010 for Form 4. It was the result of the trust of the Education Ministry via the Sarawak State Education Department (JPNS) as it has achieved more than 50% success of its KRK students, who were Form 3 students, under the department achieved all As in PMR 2008.
In 2009, SMK Pujut creates the history as its 20 Form 3 students achieved all As in subjects, compared to 16 candidates in the previous years. This achievement shows that despite its premature years, it can compete with the other older secondary schools in Miri.
