Education
editJones grew up in Arlington Heights, Illinois.[1] She graduated from Montana State University in 2004 with a bachelor's degree in psychology.[2] She later earned a master's degree in cybersecurity.[2]
Career
editJones serves as the United States Army Sustainment Command Cyber Division chief for ASC G6 Information Technology.[3][1]
She was profiled by the United States Army on their website and social media accounts on June 22, 2023 to talk about mental health and her gender transition.[2][3] The profile drew backlash and criticism from conservatives, including Donald Trump, Jr., Colonel Rob Maness, and Jordan Peterson[2]
Jones retired from the military in October 2024, after twenty years of service.[1]
Personal life
editJones lives in East Moline, Illinois.[1]
She came out privately as a transgender woman in 2019, but could not come out publicly due to the transgender military ban that was in place at the time.[3] She came out publicly in 2021, after the ban was lifted.[3]
