Background
editLil Uzi Vert teased the song through Instagram Live on December 11, 2023.[1][2][3] The song was released exclusively on YouTube alongside a music video on December 25, 2023,[4] before being released to streaming services on December 26.[5]
Composition
editThe song uses trap and drum-and-bass percussion,[6] sampling "7969"[2][3][6][7] and "Tek It" by Cafuné.[8] Centering on heartbreak and change,[2][7] it finds Lil Uzi Vert singing about a failing relationship[9][10] and their solitude.[11]
Music video
editThe music video was directed by Be EL Be. It opens with Lil Uzi Vert dressing in a bathroom,[11][10] putting on their clothes backwards,[3] and sitting alone in a hotel room[6] by the window with a sad expression,[11] before taking a walk around the city.[3][6][11] They arrive at a beach at dusk,[2][3][7][10] where they are seen running toward a red moon.[6] A close-up of Uzi crying is shown.[2][3][10][11] The clip ends with a shot of a hilly mountainside[3] and messages appearing on the screen which read: "If someone can be away from you, let them be. Its [sic] better to be alone than losing yourself for approval." and "Love isn't real, but with my imagination, I can make anything real."[2][3][6][9][10][11][12]
