Renato Antonio Cordero Romo (born 16 April 2003) is a Chilean footballer who plays as a defensive midfielder for Universidad de Concepción on loan from Universidad de Chile.

Club career
editBorn in San Felipe, Chile, Cordero came to the Universidad de Chile youth system at the age of ten[2][3] and made his professional debut in a Chilean Primera División match against O'Higgins on 24 July 2022.[4] Previously, he was on the bench in the Copa Libertadores match against Argentine side San Lorenzo on 18 March 2021.[5] In December 2022, he signed his first professional contract.[6] In the second half of 2024, he was loaned out to Universidad de Concepción.[7]
International career
editAt under-20 level, Cordero was called up for the Costa Cálida Supercup in September 2022, but he was withdrawn from the squad due to a muscle injury.[8] The next year, he represented Chile at the South American U20 Championship, making three appearances.[9][5]
At under-23 level, he was included in the squad for the 2024 CONMEBOL Pre-Olympic Tournament.[10][11]
