Biography

edit

She was born in Kerala.[2] She was considered as an average student at school according to the observation of her teachers and she subsequently faced struggles related to concentrating on studies during her teenage years. She was considered to be a dyslexic child, highlighting her learning disability.[2] She faced difficulties in learning things in a quicker manner and she took a considerable period of time to get used to things as well as to learn things. However, comparisons began to tumble her emotional wellbeing when relatives and friends frequently discussed about the fast learning abilities of her elder sister, while criticising her for not showing up on time in terms of learning stuff. Sahla pursued an interest in drawing at a young age and dreamt of becoming an architect. She began learning lessons through visualizing pictures in order to overcome the learning disorder.[1]

She also faced discrimination at school for being overweight, and her teachers discouraged her from pursuing science due to her learning disability.[1] She began to use picture oriented self study procedure in order to focus on her studies after being inspired by watching Aamir Khan's 2007 feature film directorial venture, Taare Zameen Par. Her experience of watching Taare Zameen Par at the age of 15 turned out to be a turning point as she linked the plot of the film with her personal life.[1] She transformed her life trajectory in her 20s after being inspired by the book titled The Alchemist, which was also the first book she fully completed reading. Her mindset and thought process also witnessed a dramatic change after reading The Alchemist.[3] She eventually developed an interest in reading books, which elevated a paradigm shift in how she approached life situations and challenges.

Career

edit

At the age of 23, she reportedly attended an interview conducted by an organization that was looking for trainers.[4] The interviewers were left impressed by her presence of mind and performance during the interview, but they rejected her considering her age, as she was deemed too young to take uo the job of a corporate trainer. They explained the rationale for rejecting to recruit her on-board by pointing fingers at her stating no one would be bothered to pay money to listen to a 23-year-old girl.[1][4] She was left heartbroken by the remarks of the interviewers. However, she held her nerves and remained optimistic that she could become a trainer in the future. She made efforts to prove her mettle and delivered an interview to a television channel, which eventually went viral. Following the viral television interview, she later received a job offer from the very organization which initially refused to accept Sahla to the job role as a trainer. However, she politely turned down the offer.[4]

She insisted that she was inspired to become a motivational speaker after attending a motivational talk during her MBA course. She completed her Bachelor of Business Administration in Thrissur and obtained her Master of Business Administration in Kochi.[1] She founded her own company, Give and Grow Global Foundation to conduct training and motivational sessions. In July 2017, she released her first book The Beauty Purpose in Life based on her personal life experiences and the book included 25 chapters.[5][6]
