Saint Joseph's Hawks men's lacrosse

The Saint Joseph's men's lacrosse team represents Saint Joseph's University in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I men's lacrosse. The Hawks were elevated to the varsity level in 1992 after competing several years at club level. Starting in 2023, Hawks began playing in the newly established Atlantic 10 Conference men's lacrosse conference.[2] They play home games at Sweeney Field in Wynnefield, Philadelphia

History

Saint Joseph's previously competed as members of the MAAC, CAA, and NEC conferences.

In 2000, St. Joe's was the number one seed in the MAAC year-end tournament, they would go on to win the MAAC Championship, defeating Manhattan 17-7. [3]

From Taylor Wrays first season in 2012, through the 2024 season, St. Joe's record has been 120 wins and 69 losses. Including 8 first-place conference finishes, 5 NEC tournament finals, 1 NEC Championship, and 1 A10 Championship.

In each of the past four seasons, St. Joe's has earned the number one seed in their conference after going undefeated in conference play. The Hawks won their first Conference Championship since 2000 in 2022, defeating Hobart 14-7 in the NEC Championship. [4]

After winning the NEC Championship in 2022, St. Joe's made their first NCAA Tournament appearance. The Hawks fell 18-16 to 4-Seeded Yale. [5]

The Hawks won their first A10 Championship in 2024 (the conference's second season with lacrosse), defeating Richmond 17-13. This championship was their 3rd overall and 2nd in 3 seasons. [6] St. Joe's started the season 0-3 with losses to 3 ranked teams, before winning 12 in a row to reach the NCAA Tournament. [7]

St. Joe's has had three Premier Lacrosse League draft picks. In the 2023 draft, FO Zach Cole was selected 26th Overall to the California Redwoods and A Levi Anderson was selected 31st Overall to the Carolina Chaos, Anderson would forgo his selection and return to St. Joe's for the 2024 season. In 2024, Levi Anderson entered the draft for the second time and was drafted to the California Redwoods with the 21st Overall pick. [8]
