He obtained his MBA from Symbiosis Institute of International Business (SIIB) and interned at the Reserve Bank of India, where he studied the gold market.[9] Gadgil is also a chess player and has competed in several state-level tournaments.[11][12] In 2000, he married Radhika Gadgil, and the couple has two children.[13]

Career

edit

Saurabh joined PNG Jewellers in 1998.[14][15] He expanded the business by opening stores in Pune, Nashik, Kolhapur, the UAE, and the United States.[16] Following the death of his grandfather Dajikaka in 2014, Saurabh opened additional stores.[17][18] Under his leadership, the company collaborated with actor Salman Khan and featured its designs in Bollywood films, including Prem Ratan Dhan Payo,[19] Bajrangi Bhaijaan,[20] and Dilwale. The company also launched the TIMELESS Collection by Madhuri Dixit[21] and opened a boutique store at the JW Marriott in Pune.[22] Saurabh became the Director of Style Quotient Jewellery. In 2015, he opened a P N Gadgil store in Fremont, California, in partnership with actress Preity Zinta.[23] On September 30, 2016, the Being Human brand, founded by Salman Khan, introduced Being Human Jewellery in collaboration with P N Gadgil. SQJPL, a sister company of PNG Jewellers, holds the global license for Being Human Jewellery and released the Bajrangi Bhaijaan pendant featured in the film.[24]

In 2015, he was appointed Vice President for the West Zone of the India Bullion & Jewellers Association Ltd.[25] As of 2024, PNG operates 39 retail outlets in Maharashtra, with 28 owned stores and 11 franchisee outlets.[26][27] Under his leadership, PNG Jewellers launched an initial public offering (IPO) in September 2024.[28][29] Shortly after the IPO, he debuted on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index with an estimated net worth of US$1.1 billion.[2]
