Sea Power: Naval Combat in the Missile Age or Sea Power is a tactical simulation video game developed by Triassic Games and published by MicroProse on November 12, 2024.[1][2] One of the developers was also the former head developer of the Killerfish Games game Cold Waters in 2017.[3] It is seen by many to be the spiritual successor to Jane's Fleet Command (1999).[4][5]

Development
editDevelopment began back in 2019 with Unity as the development tool being used.[6] The game was announced in December of that year on the company's Facebook and Twitter pages.[7] At some point in 2023 the game switched from Unity 2018 to the Unity 2021 LTS version of the engine.[8] All developers are from different countries (Sweden, Germany and Poland respectively).[9] The game is was released in Early Access on November 12, 2024.[1][2]
Gameplay
editThe game is set in the Cold War between the 1960s and 80s, mainly focusing on Naval Combat between NATO and Warsaw Pact forces in the North Atlantic. The game will also include scenarios based on the War of Attrition, Yom Kippur War, Vietnam War, Tanker War, Operation Praying Mantis and Bangladesh Liberation war.[10][11] According to the developers, the gameplay style will be inspired by Janes's Fleet Command and EA's Strike Fleet.[12] The game shares many features with Fleet Command including 3D graphics, real time gameplay, time compression and the inclusion of carrier and land based aircraft.[11] Civilian air traffic will also be simulated in the gameplay.[13] The game also includes vessels and aircraft that were cancelled before completion or being built (ie. the Orel-class Aircraft Carrier/Project 1153).[14]
