Seyir, in Turkish makam theory, is a pattern of movement of notes in a certain order (route) within a makam.[1][2][3]
The three types of Seyir are:[4]
- Ascending (çıkıcı): starts at the initial Durak note and continues to the final Tiz Durak.
- Descending (inici): starts at the final Tiz Durak note and continues to the initial Durak.
- Descending-ascending (inici-çıkıcı): starts at the middle Güçlü note and continues to the Durak and back to the Tiz Durak.
