Shahbaz (Persian: شهباز) is a city in, and the capital of, Qarah Kahriz District of Shazand County, Markazi province, Iran. The city is the merger of the former villages of Bazneh and Hafteh in July 2013.[3]

editAt the time of the 2006 National Census, the population (as the total of its two constituent villages before the merger) was 6,581 in 1,679 households, when it was in Qarah Kahriz Rural District of the Central District.[4] The following census in 2011 counted 7,603 people in 2,283 households,[5] by which time the rural district had been separated from the district in the establishment of Qarah Kahriz District. The 2016 census measured the population as 7,536 people in 2,375 households,[2] by which time Bazneh and Hafteh had merged to form the new city of Shahbaz.[3]
