editAbbey was born in Accra. He played in Ghana for Real Tamale United,[1] Okwahu United, Asante Kotoko,[2] in Germany FC St. Pauli[3] and in Mali for Stade Malien.[4] In Vietnam for Dong A Bank, Song Lam Nghe An, Bình Dương, Khatoco Khánh Hoà and Viettel FC.
