SPW offers various programmes designed to support single parents and their children. These include Wellbeing Workshops funded by the Big Lottery Fund in partnership with the Mental Health Foundation. The workshops focus on self-care, mental health, managing relationships, and confidence building, providing single parents with practical tools to improve their daily lives. SPW also runs projects like "Connecting Creatively," which involves creative activities aimed at fostering community and reducing isolation,[3] and the Young Person's Project, which supports young people within single-parent families, additionally through the Young Person's Project, the young people in SPW are offered an active role in advocacy through initiatives such as Champion 4 Change (C4C).[4] The C4C program empowers children who come from single parent families to advocate for systemic change within their communities. Participants receive training and resources to help them raise awareness about issues such as affordable childcare, mental health support, and flexible working conditions. By participating in C4C, they gain the confidence to influence policies and practices that affect their families, strengthening both their personal resilience and their ability to make a lasting impact on the broader community.[citation needed] Additionally, SPW provides a platform for members to share experiences and support each other through both in-person and online events, including a private Facebook group that serves as a resource and a safe community space.

The organisation is actively involved in advocacy and campaigns on behalf of single parents, addressing issues like mental health, child support arrangements, and flexible working policies. During the COVID-19 lockdowns, SPW quickly adapted by moving many of its activities online, offering virtual workshops and social sessions to maintain connections among members. They also organised food parcel deliveries, provided illustrated postcards to single-parent families, and encouraged community-driven campaigns for legislative attention.
