The Congregation version
edit- It was covered in 1971 by The Congregation, where the group's version was a worldwide hit. Their version peaked at No. 4 on the UK Singles Chart,[2] 1 in South Africa and New Zealand, No. 10 in Germany and No. 11 in Australia's Go-Set's Singles Chart.[3] In North America, the group was known as The English Congregation, where the song went to #29 on the Billboard Hot 100[4] and #21 in Canada.[5]
Paul Young version
editEnglish singer Paul Young recorded the song for his Other Voices album, and it was released as the first single from the album on 30 April 1990.[6] It reached No. 21 on the UK Singles Chart and No. 16 in Ireland.
