South Gate Ridge is a census-designated place (CDP) in Sarasota County, Florida, United States. The population was 6,024 at the 2020 census, up from 5,688 at the 2010 census. It is part of the North Port–BradentonSarasota, Florida Metropolitan Statistical Area.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 1.8 square miles (4.7 km2), of which 1.7 square miles (4.5 km2) is land and 0.077 square miles (0.2 km2), or 3.54%, is water.[5]

As of the 2020 United States census,[7] South Gate Ridge had a population of 6,024 with 2,438 households.

The population was split by age, with 3.3% under 5 years old, 19.3% under 18, and 21.3% were 65 years and older. 49.3% were female persons. There were 327 veterans living in the CDP and 17.3% of the population were foreign born persons.

By race, the population was split with 81.5% white, 4.1% black or African American, 1.4% were Asian, 9.9% were two or more races, and 17.0% were Hispanic or Latino.

The median household income was $66,910. 10.7% of the population lived below the poverty threshold. 95.4% of households had a computer, and 92.7% of households had a broadband internet subscription.
