Prefectorial system

edit

Each year, a centralized prefectorial body is set up to ensure proper functioning of the school body.[citation needed] The board consists of the School President and School Captain, with a deputy Vice-Captain to assist. They lead a group of prefects, including high post holders like the school sports secretaries, the house captains and captains of other activities, along with the other prefects. The students of class 10 hold the majority of the posts.

All posts except for the post of the school captain and the school president are elected directly by high school students. Together, the post holders make up the Students' Council.

The school has four houses or sub-groups: Perfection (white), Power (red), Harmony (pink), and Wisdom (yellow). Students are divided into these houses and participate in Inter House competitions.

Ideals at Sri Aurobindo International School

edit

Sri Aurobindo International School follows the educational ideals inspired by Sri Aurobindo's principles of teaching. These principles provide a foundation for the school's approach to education, emphasizing the development of the child's innate abilities and fostering a holistic growth encompassing intellectual, aesthetic, emotional, moral, spiritual, and communal dimensions.

Sri Aurobindo's Three Principles of Teaching

edit

The school aligns with three fundamental principles of teaching proposed by Sri Aurobindo:

1. Nothing Can Be Taught

edit

Emphasizing the belief that true teaching brings forth the hidden knowledge within the child and aids it in surfacing naturally.

2. Mind's Own Growth

edit

Acknowledging that the mind should be consulted in its own growth, highlighting the importance of self-directed learning.

3. Near to Far Approach

edit

Advocating the approach of working from the near to the far, starting from the current state to what the learner aspires to become.

Educational Objectives

edit

In line with these principles, SAIS has set the following educational objectives:

Unveiling Hidden Knowledge

edit

Clarifying the true purpose of teaching as the revelation of the latent knowledge within each child.

Holistic Development

edit

Focusing on nurturing the intellectual, aesthetic, emotional, moral, spiritual, and communal facets of every student based on their unique temperament and capacities.

Mental Faculty Enhancement

edit

Dedicated to developing the mental faculties of students, building the powers of their minds.

Teacher's Perpetual Progress

edit

Enabling teachers to cultivate a zeal for continuous improvement and progress.
