The first written mention of Starkoč is from 1355. Until the 17th century, it was owned by various local noble families. After the Battle of White Mountain, it was acquired by the Trčka of Lípa family. In 1663, when Starkoč already belonged to the Žehušice estate, the estate was bought by the Thun und Hohenstein family.[2]

Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary

The main landmark of Starkoč is the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. It is a replica of the type of church designed in 1732 by the architect Kilian Ignaz Dientzenhofer for other two villages in Bohemia. It was built in 1738 on the site of an old church from the mid-14th century.[2][5]
