The Statue of Penelope is a marble statue which was discovered in Persepolis. The statue is kept at National Museum of Iran. During a joint exhibition between Iran and Italy in 2015, the statue was on display at Prada Foundation in Milan for around 4 months, and all the four statues were also on display at the National Museum of Iran between September and March 2016 in Tehran.[1] Life-Size Greek lady in the Severe Style was excavated by the Oriental Institute of Chicago in 1945. It lay scattered in three fragments in the ruins of the Persepolis Treasury.[2][3] It is surmised that the statue was brought to Persepolis by Xerxes after the conquest of Athens during the battle of Thermopylae in 480 BC.[4]
