The activity of the initiative began in the spring of 2022 with the production of tens of thousands of anti-tank hedgehogs, the development of its own armored steel, and the production of armored plates for armor, which the Ukrainian army needed at that time.[1]

As of October 2023, about 13,000 employees of Rinat Akhmetov's structures served in the secondary school.[2] To the front, the initiative transfers mockups of weapons (as of September 2023, 250 pieces), hideouts, body armor (as of September 2023, 200 thousand), protection of armored vehicles from drones, anti-drone nets, etc.[3] The plants of the SF's founders are enough for a thousand armored plates per day.[4]

In August 2024, it became known that the SF had provided funds for the purchase in Great Britain of 14 FV 432 Mark 2 armored personnel carriers with spare parts worth UAH 53 million for the Third Assault Brigade.[5] The implementation of the project took half a year.

In May 2024, it became known that the military initiative joined the construction of 55 platoon strongholds with a total length of more than 80 km in the Avdiivka, Kurakhovo, and Zaporizhya directions of the Russian-Ukrainian war front.[6] Subsequently, the volumes increased to 200 km in July with 43 hiding places (SF supplied 20,720 cubic meters of timber, 100300 square meters of geotextile, and netting for strengthening trenches and pits).[7]

As of July 2024, Steel Front is working on the construction of the largest underground hospital on the front line, which will be equipped with surgical and intensive care units to stabilize wounded soldiers.[8]

In May 2024, it became known that Steel Front began producing screens protecting M1 Abrams tanks from FPV.[9] Within the framework of the military initiative, Metinvest manufactures and delivers to the Armed Forces underground bunkers, body armor, mine trawlers, lancet catchers, and other types of products.

The Steel Front is also actively constructing fortifications for the Armed Forces in the Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia regions.[10]

The hull of the first corvette of the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine "Hetman Ivan Mazepa" was made in Turkey from materials from "Azovstal."[11]

In June 2024, the initiative handed over three CB90 ships with a total cost of UAH 165 million to the GUR.[12] In the summer of 2022, the initiative handed over 20 specialized ambulances to GUR for 300,000 euros, adding medicines and medical equipment worth almost UAH 21 million.[13]

The total amount of money that Rinat Akhmetov directed to aid Ukraine is about UAH 10 billion. During the 900 days of the Great War, the initiative transferred more than 6,000 pieces of special equipment, 7,000 radios and special equipment units, and more than 6,000 drones and UAVs of various models to the UAF.[14]
