Sunder Lal (22 August 1933 – 13 September 2024),[1] better known as Sunder Lal Kaka, was a veteran Indian politician. He served as Minister in Government of Rajasthan in Bhairon Singh ministry as Independent charge. He was elected to the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly for seven terms in a career spanning over six decades. He was also a popular dalit face in Shekhawati. He was a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party since 2003 after resigning Indian National Congress.[2][3]

Early life and education
editSunder Lal was born on 22 August 1933 in Kalwa Village, Buhana tehsil of Jhunjhunu district in the State of Rajasthan. He did primary education and his family belong to agriculture background.[1]
Political career
editSurajgarh Assembly, Rajasthan
editHe was elected to the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly from Surajgarh for the first ever time in 1972 as a member of the Indian National Congress and then he won multiple elections from this seat. He won 1972 and 1985 Assembly elections as a member of the Congress party while he won 1980 and 1993 elections as Independents. He then elected to the Assembly in 2003 as a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
During the formation of Bhairon Singh Shekhawat Government in Rajasthan he gave support to Bharatiya Janata Party which lead to formation of coalition government of Bhairon Singh. He became State Minister in Bhairon Singh government as Independent Charge in 1998.

Rajasthan Schedule Tribe Commission
editHe twice served as the president of the Rajasthan Schedule Tribe Commission in year 2007 and 2015.[1]
Death
editOn 13 September 2024, Sunder Lal died at the age of 92 in SMS Hospital, Jaipur due to prolonged respiratory illness.[4][5][6]
