The Taiwan Travel Permit[2][3][4][5] (往来台湾通行证) is a travel document issued by the Exit and Entry Administration of the People's Republic of China. This card-size biometric document is issued for its bearers, Chinese citizens residing in the mainland, to travel to and return from the Taiwan Area for personal, business, or other purposes.[6][7]

When bearers travel to Taiwan from ports in mainland China, they need to have an endorsement on their Taiwan Travel Permit cards.[6][8] In addition, they need a Taiwan Entry Permit to enter Taiwan.[9] Chinese citizens with residency in the mainland do not need to a Taiwan Travel Permit if they are traveling to the Taiwan Area directly from overseas.[10]
