Every year, it recognizes the journeys of Arab individuals and institutions who have left their mark in the fields of Young Entrepreneurship, Corporate Leadership, Cultural Excellence, Sciences and Technology, and Environmental Development and Sustainability. Beyond these five categories, Takreem America, and through its Lifetime Awards and Special Distinctions, acknowledges individuals whose pioneering spirit and lifelong dedication have had a significant impact on society.[2]

Takreem America's creation comes as the organic next step in Takreem's journey, which was mostly dedicated to Arabs in the Arab World.

History

edit

Ricardo Karam[4] came up with the idea of Takreem in 2004[5] and launched it officially in 2009.[6] In 2019, Takreem expanded its activities to include the United States and reach out to the Arab diaspora in the two continents of America; to be a launch announcement (Takreem America),[7] The first honoring ceremony was held in February 2022 in Miami, Florida at the Ritz Carlton, Coconut Grove.[2]

Dedicated to recognizing the significant contributions of the Arab diaspora, Takreem America hosted its 2nd annual weekend in Los Angeles, California.[1] in February, 2023 at Millennium Biltmore Hotel.[8]

In April 2024, Takreem America Foundation chose Boston, Massachusetts for its annual weekend at the Copley Place.[9]

Activities

edit

Takreem America first get-together took place in Miami, Florida, in February 2022.[10][11] It consisted of an Awards ceremony, a gala dinner, and a series of talks and panels.[12] The gala dinner aimed to raise funds for Lebanese students living in the USA who had no means of paying university fees due to the liquidity crisis in Lebanon, which in turn led to a decline in the value of the Lebanese pound against the dollar and the difficulty of conducting transactions for the Lebanese with banks.[12]

Takreem America 2023, featured Takreem's Awards Night celebrating the exceptional achievements of men and women who have made an outstanding impact in their respective fields. It also included TAKminds Forum, which served as a platform for important dialogues aimed at fostering community and world improvement.[8][13]

In 2024, Takreem America’s Awards Night was held in Boston, honoring changemakers who came to the USA and brought change through their contributions and achievements. The TAKminds Forum convened at MIT in Cambridge focusing on "Ripples of Impact" and celebrating the legacies of Arab-American minds.[citation needed]
