More on the jazz song
editIt would be nice if the article would talk more about the original (famous!) jazz version instead of the later cover. See for example Shim Sham. --87.174.107.127 (talk) 23:25, 12 January 2011 (UTC)
Seriously. Fun Boy 3 and Bananrama?!? Really? Who cares about those already forgotten third raters and their ridiculous version of this great song? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.227.224.46 (talk) 18:55, 1 February 2024 (UTC)
wp page title
editCan somebody explain why, although everything I've seen says It Ain't What You Do (It's the Way That You Do It), the page is titled "T'ain't What You Do (It's the Way That You Do It)"?
If no-one can/does, then I will propose the page be renamed. Pdfpdf (talk) 10:31, 20 May 2012 (UTC)
- Because that was the title as set out on the early recorded versions, by Jimmie Lunceford and others - for example here (zoom in to see the label). Other sites like Allmusic record it the same way. But having said that, BMI say that the legal title is "It ain't....." So, there is a case to be made either way. Ghmyrtle (talk) 09:20, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
- Oh dear. Thank you for your reply! I'll think I'll retreat back into the "Ignorance is bliss" state, and cede to others with broader knowledge. Cheers, Pdfpdf (talk) 11:03, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
- Actually, to me it looks like that says 'Tain't rather than T'ain't. Note that 'Tain't makes more sense, because the first apostrophe is in place of the i from "it". I think the article should be moved to 'Tain't What You Do (It's the Way That You Do It). --Trovatore (talk) 06:18, 23 September 2017 (UTC)
Calypso ?!
editAre you guys really serious? That's big band, swing, jazz ... but NOT calypso. At least not the 1930s original versions (no single one of them even). -andy 2.242.44.122 (talk) 17:44, 8 April 2014 (UTC)
- "You guys"? One person's unexplained and unsourced edit here. I've removed it. Thanks for noticing. Ghmyrtle (talk) 17:56, 8 April 2014 (UTC)
