Alex, Álex, Àlex

I edited Álex to Àlex because it is the Catalan form of the name. I failed to find the official page of Alex Márquez and so I used as a reference the page of his brother Marc Márquez. There, in the English version, the name of his brother is written as Alex, and in the Spanish version it is also written as Alex (without any diacritic). In the Catalan version you get Àlex, which is short for Catalan Alexandre. So, although Alex would correspond to the English version, there is no motivation for Álex, and as I thought the intention was to reflect the actual name I changed it to Àlex.

Since the edit was reverted I looked closer, and although there is still no official page to my knowledge, I found his facebook page where his name is given as Alex Marquez Alenta (without diacritic). In the official MotoGP page it is also written Alex.

So, I still find no reason to write Álex. In the English wikipedia it is maybe better to use Alex as in the English pages of the family, as, further, both in Spanish and Catalan there was the optional rule of not writing the accent on capital letters. Zjk7 (talk) 20:41, 14 October 2013 (UTC)Reply
