Misguided renaming

The official name of the school *is* ‘École spéciale militaire de Saint-Cyr’, per the school's website and legal texts (for instance the decree about the class of 2012). The name ‘écoles de Saint-Cyr Coëtquidan’ is a plural, and refers to the Coëtquidan campus shared by the École spéciale militaire de Saint-Cyr, the École militaire interarmes and the École d'administration militaire. More traditions?

I don't know much about this, but I've seen some of the results on YouTube. Apparently each promotion (class) composes a song and then performs it. Some of them are very good. See a random example HERE. Also, apparently, each promotion is named after a French military hero (or something like that). The name is maybe chosen jointly by the class members and the faculty. Coat of arms / Insignia

There's an image on Commons, File:École_spéciale_militaire_de_Saint-Cyr.jpg, that from the name seems to be the coat of arms of this university. However, it's used exactly once (on a different page), and it's different from the insignia that the French wikipedia article uses (File:ESM-insigne.png). Can someone more familiar with this topic figure out if these coat of arms are accurate, and if either the coat or the insignia should be added to this article? -Apocheir (talk) 13:33, 19 April 2017 (UTC)

Training

There seems to a confusion between the rank of major and the major subject of study. "As all officers are commissioned as Majors upon graduation..." and "Graduates leave the school with the rank of lieutenant and ..."

Ion Antonescu

Ion Antonescu did not graduate from this school. This aspect is clearly explained on the Romanian talk page. On the one hand, it's a book, Maria Georgescu, Cadeți români la Saint-Cyr, Editura Militară, 2002, la p.121-126 where all those who attended this school are mentioned, but Ion Antonescu is not mentioned among them. On the other hand, going through his biography, both the one written by him and the one written by historians, it can be seen that there is no two-year period in which to go through the courses of this school. Consequently, corroborating this information, it is very clear that he did not attend the two-year courses of École spéciale militaire de Saint-Cyr.188.25.56.107 (talk) 19:39, 28 April 2022 (UTC)
