1990 "Le Carlton" TV ad inspired by 1960 "Girls in the Windows" photograph?
editA number of people have suggested or claimed that the 1990 Jean-Paul Goude TV commercial for Égoïste, "Le Carlton", was inspired by the 1958 photograph by Ormond Gigli, "Girls in the Windows". For example, Laurie Simmons in this Artforum piece https://www.artforum.com/features/laurie-simmons-3-228758/ and Time reporter Richard Conway in a piece on "Girls in the Windows" (the link in "the picture’s influence stretches beyond photography" goes to a YouTube upload of "Le Carlton"). But I don't believe that I've yet seen any really solid source to confirm (or disconfirm) this. Does anyone have anything? RW Dutton (talk) 18:53, 1 December 2023 (UTC)
