The article at fr: (where some of this material comes from) is barely a stub and unreferenced. But there's a fair amount on the web. Here are some links.
I have integrated these and other sources I found lying about on the web into the article, but frankly while they all seem to be fairly self-consistent none really qualifies as an RS. I suspect there's quite a bit on this fellow in books given the life he seems to have led, but none of it has yet been digitized.
