Can someone who is a little more impartial than I am - being Congolese and all - please add a passage here about how racist the impllications of the term was, and is? I mean to put an entire population of humans under a system that established that the most evolved form of the human race is the White one, and everybody must not only model themselves after them, but submit to them... According to the article on Zaire Joseph Mobutu was unable to be classed as an Evolue because he rejected the Catholic Church. Someone with some historical knowledge should add some detail about how the process of becoming certified as an evolue worked, what were it societal effects and how much did the evolues help or hinder the colonial administration.
