He won the elections again and will serve as president for the next four years. --157.157.127.8 17:46, 27 Jun 2004 (UTC)

Detail

edit

Not worth including in the article itself, but back in 2007 some joker in Iceland called the White House pretending to be Ólafur. He used Wikipedia (presumably this article's Icelandic equivalent) to cite aspects of Ólafur's life and career, and sound more convincing. (See here.) Aridd (talk) 10:17, 11 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Vandalism

edit

I notice some vandalism in his page; "seek a fourth tuik in office", "held by the senior Danish ass.", "showing initiative and international sexual intercorse in".. and there's probably more.. <_< —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.149.117.247 (talk) 20:58, 16 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Media Law

edit

Perhaps this should be revised or hyperlinked? What is the media law? Jamieyk (talk) 03:41, 23 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Wrong Citation

edit

There is a major problem with citation number 14 in that it has nothing to do with the section of the article where it is used. If no one can find a source in which he actually said what is claimed, the section should be deleted. Balamcoatl (talk) 04:29, 24 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Kingdom of Iceland

edit

Its rather silly to have the infobox saying he was born in the Kingdom of Iceland. The country was commonly known as Iceland in that era, and he is even born post-1940, when there was no contact with the King.--Batmacumba (talk) 18:10, 2 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

I disagree. I think it is accurate to say that he was born in the Kingdom of Iceland. Snooganssnoogans (talk) 18:18, 2 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
It is formally correct, but not the common name (and he was born at a time when the Kingdom was a mere formality making it anachronistic, but that is less relevant). An English speaker or an English text would not have referred to the country as the kingdom of Iceland.--Batmacumba (talk) 18:26, 2 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
To phrase a bit simpler my objection is that you wouldn't have referred to the country as the Kingdom of Iceland, just as you do not refer to the current Icelandic state s the Republic of Iceland.--Batmacumba (talk) 18:40, 2 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
Ok, you convinced me. I think we should opt for just Iceland, provided that it's consistent with how pre-1944 Icelanders are referred to on Wikipedia. Snooganssnoogans (talk) 18:45, 2 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
