Hauberg, Haljak, Lagerqvist, and Fridh & Jonsson all identify silver coinage of Visby, Gotland as ortugs as early as 1320. Many similar coins of Visby back to the 1120s are now commonly referred to as ortugs in the literature, though this may be anachronistic. Older Västgöta law

Older Västgöta law from c. 1220 describes fines in terms of a monetary system based on marks, öres, örtugs and pennings. This seems to be in odds with the claim that örtugs were first minted during Albert's reign in late 14th century. Jähmefyysikko (talk) 14:19, 9 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
