Žarko Mihajlović rođen je u selu Neuzina kraj Zrenjanina 4. Marta 1920 godine.
Kao fudbaler igrao je za FK Metalac i BSK.
Kao trener uspešno je vodio nekoliko grčkih i turskih klubova,među kojima su PAOK,Etnikos, DOXA iz Drame,APOLON iz Kalamarisa, Fenerbahce ,Karsiyaka iz Izmira . Takođe vodio je A selekciju Turske.
Sa Crvenom zvezdom osvojio je njene prve dve titule 1951 i 1953. Takođe vodio je OFK Beograd i još nekoliko timova bivše Jugoslavije.
Sedamdesetih godina vodio je ekipu kuvajtske Kacije (QADISIA)
Umro je u Beogradu 1986 godine.
