.30 Remington fathering the 10mm??
editAn anonymous user indicates that the .30 Remington is the parent case of the 10mm & .40 S&W pistol cartridges. I don't see any citations regarding this, and didn't see any reference to this on the 10mm or .40 S&W pages. Unless someone can produce a reference to attest to it as fact I'm going to remove this portion soon. Tengu99 (talk) 06:41, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
I have a copy of Hornady's Seventh Edition Reloading Manual. It states on page 860 "Using cut-off 30 Remington cases with a 40 caliber bullet, they (Jeff Cooper et all) created the 10mm automatic." Some googling yeilds similar information: This article (http://www.thegunzone.com/brenx/40ga.html) claims the original 10mm was a wildcat round called 40G&A that Jeff Cooper and friends made from a 30 remington case. Another article (http://www.sixguns.com/tests/tt10mm.htm) claims the same 40G&A was made from 224 weatherby brass. Most references I have seen point to 30 Remington and only one reference to 224 weatherby. I hope this helps. Cycletourist (talk) 15:26, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
