Caps?

edit

There are no examples of the term in use. What is the convention with capitalisation? Is it "she took Medicine 101" or "she took medicine 101"? Ericoides (talk) 07:48, 9 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

1984's Room 101

edit

Did George Orwell choose the room's number with this convention in mind? 2003:EC:9F43:4300:1C6E:1C34:3389:8D2 (talk) 12:44, 7 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Orwell named Room 101 after a conference room at Broadcasting House where he used to sit through tedious meetings. [1] DancesWithGrues (talk) 11:56, 27 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Why zero?

edit

Wherever I read this, it says that “second digit corresponded to a particular subject or to a department”. So, why zero is the second digit in “101”? No subject/department? Subject/Department #0? --Stansult (talk) 03:15, 25 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

I believe the second number refers to a specific topic within the subject, so that English 101, 111, 121 would be introductory courses to different fields of English study. The 101 course will presumably provide a general overview of the entire subject. DancesWithGrues (talk) 11:50, 27 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

I am in agreement as well, so as per WP:BOLD and WP:MERGE, I am merging this page into the appropriate section at 101 (number) and converting this page into a section redirect. Indigopari (talk) 19:14, 5 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
The merge is complete. Indigopari (talk) 20:32, 5 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
