Death of Wilmer Esler

My father, Paul Meisel, was in operations in the 107th in the late 1930s until about 1943. He told me that Wilmer Esler's fiance, a daughter of the Detroit Briggs Mfg. family, wanted Wilmer to marry her immediately... he wanted to wait until after he returned from the war. The fight lasted most of the night, and Esler did not want to fly that day. He crashed on takeoff due to pilot error, probably due to fatigue.
