Dalai Lamas' passings in youth
editI haven't found the exact medical reasons for these deaths. Many scholars write about this phenomena in Tibetan history, and point to the documents which describe Qing politicians attempting to politically manipulate the ministers, Tsepons and attendants who were in the young Dalai Lama's entourages. The Tibetan government basically paused for 18-20 years as the tulkus were found, educated, then formally enthroned when their majority was reached.
Without hard evidence, it's generally agreed by scholars that the Chinese were most likely repeatedly poisoning the Dalai Lamas, especially since no Tibetan would do such a thing to Tibet's living Buddha.
Luckily, the 13th Dalai Lama survived his childhood illnesses (see Treasury of Lives bio:(https://treasuryoflives.org/biographies/view/Thirteenth-Dalai-Lama-Tubten-Gyatso/3307) and a photograph taken as the Qing were collapsing (https://treasuryoflives.org/paintings/view/Officials-at-Hastings-House/122)), to preside through the Qing collapse, through Britain's "Great Game", and into modern, documented history with the evidence of the nation state of Tibet.
This subject of the young Dalai Lamas could have its own page on Wikipedia, complete with citations. Metokpema (talk) 06:49, 6 August 2024 (UTC)
- As mentioned before, you need sources that are actually related to POV changes and theories, in this case poisoning. This does not mean citing some unrelated page or photograph. Sources usually focus more on the Dalai Lamas' regents and rivals as possible assassins due to how secluded the region is. Vacosea (talk) 10:26, 11 August 2024 (UTC)
