Perkins Stable and Harold Marine
editThe QHR mentions these places and gives QHR registration numbers, but they are not in the current QHR. Looking at Google Street View, I think both have been demolished (which would account for their disappearance from the QHR). I think this article's text should be revised to reflect this but I don't have a citation at this stage, just a strong suspicion. Kerry (talk) 08:29, 11 September 2016 (UTC)
- That would make sense. The stable seems to be gone (I'm assuming it was where that carpark is), but I'm not sure that Harold Marine has actually been demolished - the 2014 City Centre Neighbourhood Plan Code refers to it in the present tense, and a building with 1911 on the facade shows up in Google Street View. No clue why it's disappeared from the QHR if that's the case, though. Odd. I wish we could get our hands on the old QHR entries as well. The Drover's Wife (talk) 09:14, 11 September 2016 (UTC)
- You're right; it might be Harold Marine. But if so, it's on neither of the QHR nor the Brisbane HR. Why would they remove the HR listings if the building is still intact? There is a business still in Brisbane today called Harrold Marine (2 Rs) but they are not in the CBD but they say they have been in the marine business for 4 generations over 50 years so within the time frame of the heritage listing. I have found Arthur Elliott Harrold (again 2Rs) running a music warehouse as one of 4 occupiers of 123-125 Charlotte Street in 1931. Music isn't marine, but curious to find the same surname popping up around the same premises. I think this stays in the "too hard" basket for the moment. I had been thinking of asking the QHR people if they would release their "ex-heritage" listings, but it's the "too many other things to do right now" basket. - And fair enough. Would be lovely if you get the time one day though! The Drover's Wife (talk) 01:48, 12 September 2016 (UTC)
- Now I have finished with creating "new" QHR articles in my spreadsheet, I will add the delisted sites on my "still to do" list for the QHR. See User:Kerry Raymond#Status update on the QHR project for more details. Kerry (talk) 03:44, 12 September 2016 (UTC)
