Battle honour "Amiens 1918" - unique battle honour for 13 LHR?
editGday - this seems an interesting issue and there are a few sources which contradict each other. The following sources do not list 13th LHR as having the honour "Amiens" (note no "1918"):
- Current version of AWM website listing for 13th LHR [1];
- Army History Unit list of Aust Army battle honours [2] (only lists a number of Inf Bns); and
- Festberg The Lineage of the Australian Army, page 48 entry for 13th LHR.
The list of AS Inf Bns awarded the battle honour "Amiens" is supported by Rodger pp. 154-156 (which also lists the British and Canadian units which received it). However, it appears that 13th LHR may well have been awarded the unique battle honour of "Amiens 1918" in 1927 - which appears in Rodger p. 156. No other British or Dominion units appear to have been awarded this variation (which covers the same dates as "Amiens" i.e. 8-11 Aug 1918). Other sources which support this include:
- Army History Unit list of battle honours awarded to AS Army cavalry units [3]; and
- Potentially also Hunter My corps cavalry : a history of the 13th Light Horse Regiment AIF - which seems to include a chapter on Amiens 1918 see [4].
Altogether quite interesting I think. Enough to draw me back to wiki after a week of contemplating how stupid ever getting involved in the entire project was / is at least. Anotherclown (talk) 11:23, 19 February 2015 (UTC)
- G'day, AC, thanks for adding that. Perhaps a note should be added stating the contradiction? Regards, AustralianRupert (talk) 11:29, 19 February 2015 (UTC)
- Good idea - I've added a note now (also at Battle and theatre honours of the Australian Army). Pls review when you get a chance and let me know what you think / change as req'd. Thanks again. Anotherclown (talk) 12:07, 19 February 2015 (UTC)

Disbandment of 13th armoured.
editThere must be some factual; errors in this entry. The Unit War Diaries has 13th armoured still receiving tanks through August and the final entries are 13 dec 1943 . ref AWM 2020.71.291. Likewise the 13th armoured was attached to the 3rd Armoured Div when in Murgon beginning mach 1943 awm 2020.71.288 Also some dispute as to whether 2nd Armoured div ever existed see the Unit Guide (G R McKenzie -Smith ) 2.055.
This entry for 13 armoured regiment contradicts the 3rd armoured div entry . 120.144.174.99 (talk) 06:43, 3 January 2024 (UTC)
