Contradiction

edit

There's a contradiction in the article right now. One one hand it is claimed that the results were unanimous. On the other hand in the results section, it is claimed that there were a quite a few votes against the Empire. Ironically they come from the same source. It is in German, but it is a rather short source, and I think this is an ambiguity that needs to be resolved. Any help is welcome. Rainier Blue (talk) 01:53, 4 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

I am not sure it's contradictory. It's basically saying that it was claimed the election was unanimous, but a some historians suggest this is untrue and there were votes against. Number 57 20:38, 4 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
I tried reading the article using machine translation and I see what you mean. Multiple opinions are presented. In the end though I wonder where the disputed results came from. Perhaps the French tolerated some dissenting votes and then discarded them and sent the rest to Maximilian.
The page cites two books one by Johann Lubienski and the other by Theodor Jankoff. The latter is in the public domain. For anyone that's interested and can read German it's a good start, and maybe we could get more information. Rainier Blue (talk) 01:17, 8 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
