Something weird...
edit...the North British Daily Mail of 30 September, covering the first round games, gives the result of one match as being Arthurlie (Barrhead) v Busby (4-1, plus 2 disputed goals). Secondary sources have Busby playing Morton, and Barrhead beating Wellington Park the week before. Did a reporter go to Busby and get the opponents AND the goals wrong? Confused by a change kit perhaps? In Vitrio (talk) 18:30, 7 November 2022 (UTC)
- My only suggestion is that could it be a second XI match? I've just checked the most reliable source I have for this (which I didn't have when I was collating the results together), The Beautiful Dribbling Game by Stewart Mathers and it has Barrhead 2-0 Wellington Park match (I will update after I've posted this) on 21 September as well as Busby 3-1 Morton and Cartvale 1-4 Arthurlie on 28 September so I'm not sure what has happened there. - Could be, and someone somewhere noticed something odd, because the paper gave the side as Arthurlie (Barrhead), with the Arthurlie win over Cartvale in the same column. But the match was played in Busby. Any Morton fans around with good source access? In Vitrio (talk) 19:40, 7 November 2022 (UTC)
